Phil retired from Project Management to put his feet up, but found that God had other ideas. He is Lead Elder of Meadows Community Church and is also responsible for The King’s Centre and The Lighthouse Day Nursery. He preaches and is passionate about combining spiritual and practical gifts in the life of the church. Lyn is on the prayer ministry team, heads up safeguarding and grows vegetables. Between them, they have four grown-up children, three cats and three chickens.
Ian used to be a teacher, but for many years now has been teaching us all the truth of Scripture through preaching and Bible Study. He is keen to integrate the Word of God with the outward working of the Holy Spirit. Ian originates from Wales, but we can understand everything he says, even when he gets excited because wales are winning at rugby.
Mike leads the worship team and ‘Making Room for the Holy Spirit’ meetings. Together he Sue head up social action and world mission at Meadows, and run a support group for friends serving in Bolivia. They have two lovely lively children, Rebekah and Luke.
Lesley is our Family Support Worker. She is energetic, creative and inspiring to hundreds of mums, dads and carers in the community. Most days you’ll find her in The King’s Centre running events for Tots and Carers. These are so popular that there is often a waiting list. Lesley is married to Keith with three children of her own and hundreds of under fives who live locally and love her to bits. She loves her bicycle with a basket on the front so don’t be afraid to say ‘on yer bike’.
Pete manages the Christians Against Poverty (CAP) local office in The King’s Centre. As an accountant he knows a thing or two about figures, but as a CAP trained debt counsellor and compassionate Christian Pete is dedicated to releasing people from a life sentence of debt, poverty and its causes. Pete is married to Hannah and hates being called a ‘bean counter’.
James and Amy head up our vibrant children and youth ministry. They met in 1998, married in 2005 and have two fabulous children, Sam and Holly. Their enthusiasm for seeing God at work amongst youngsters is contagious and has been influential in building a strong ministry team. Their desire is for young people of all ages to have an understanding of God’s Word and to develop their own personal relationship with God.
Sean watches over the smooth operation of church practicalities, including the Sunday experience, admin and communications. Is the welcome to visitors on a Sunday morning warm enough? Is the tea and coffee served after the morning service of the required quality? Are the facilities clean and comfortable? Does everyone know what’s going on? These are just some of the questions Sean responds to on a regular basis. Sean is married to Barbara and always wears a smile.
